This was done by myself and a friend today as part of a group and work related project for university. It took about 6 hours in total to make. There are still a few tweaks needed to be made before the final version is rendered out for a show reel but this is near enough to the finished version.

Really nice effects coming from over the building, but the colours are really dull I think.

The colours were chosen for 2 reasons.
    1. They match the area that the 3D objects are composited into, (that urban sort of look).
    2. It makes compositing easier as getting realistic lighting is easier to achieve when the colours are similar.

We did originally try having the logo in various different colours before hand but it didn't look anywhere near as realistic or interesting as with the current greys. Thanks for your feedback though! :)

I dunno, I think the moment when all the parts go into the MTV Logo looks kinda odd, like first they hang still in the air then out of nowhere they get dragged towards this center point where they form the logo. Also there seems to be this bit brighter part on the logo, is this relection? Because if it isn't then I'm not sure why it's there.
Also, would've been cool if the end where it all breaks into pieces again was animated a bit slower (not too much slow-motion just a little) I'm not sure how that would work out with the music sync and such though.

Not sure what you mean about the parts hanging still in the air?? They just come straight over the building into the center.
There's a tiny bit of reflection on the parts which is important for the compositing, but what you're talking about is down to the fact that the MTV logo is made up of small chunks, and those chunks aren't perfectly aligned when they come together, there are slight cracks here and there, which was intentionally because we felt it matched the environment.
We did think about doing the last part in slow motion, but what's actually meant to be happening is the MTV logo coming together creates a sort of supernatural force, and once the logo is pieced together, the force stops, so naturally that would mean everything in the scene settles down to an abrupt stop, causing everything floating to just fall straight down, if that makes any sense.

    Thanks for your feedback.

Hmm I see, I understand the concept now so maybe slowmotion wouldn't be a good choice after all to really let that concept come across.
The parts 'hanging' in the air are pretty much the things that come over the building, it does form the MTV logo flawlessly though the flow of those pieces don't seem flawless. I don't know it just seems to look odd in a way but maybe it's just me..
